The Cyclones Rod and Custom Car Club held their Cyclones Show N Shine 2014 at Strand Park in Townsville on Sunday 27th July 2014. Classic Car Photography went to the Cyclones Show N Shine 2013 and it was great to be able to attend for a second time.
It was a fine day and perfect for a car show, with Strand Park being a perfect venue. There were plenty of cars on display and plenty of interested spectators who came to have a look at the cars. The organisers do a great job in attracting an amazing mix of car clubs, plus various food and drink stalls, and so on. Our favourite was FC’s Coffee stop!
The Falcon GT clubs had a good number of classic and not-so-classic Fords and Falcon GTs on display, with a brilliant yellow XA GT RPO83 being a highlight.
Not to be outdone, the Holden guys had an equally good number of Holdens on display, including early Monaros, later Commodores, and several panel vans, one a Sandman complete with a ‘Tail Tent’.
American muscle cars put in a solid performance with Mustangs, Corvettes and others well represented.
Trucks of all sorts were also in favour this year, with some restored, some modified, some in ‘rat’ mode, and others.
And there were the hot rods. Perhaps a few less in number this year but they did a great job in rounding out the diversity of cars on display.
Our attention was also taken by the effort that had gone into the presentation of engine bays of many of the cars on display.
All in all it was a great day with judges awarding prizes in multiple categories. Congratulations to all who attended, those who won awards, and to the organisers and sponsors for putting on such a great day.
