The Falcon GT Club of Australia held their first annual concourse event at Caribbean Gardens in Melbourne on Sunday 4th May 2014.
The Club was formed in July 1977 and is committed to the preservation and promotion of one of the most revered marques ever manufactured in this country. Only owners of genuine Falcon GTs, from the 1967 XR GT to the current FG range, including South African GTs, are eligible for Club membership.
In 1967, Ford released the first Australian built muscle car the XR GT and since then the Falcon GT has been regarded as the ultimate locally produced high performance Grand Tourer.
The Club actively supports and encourages interest in all model GT Falcons, from the Muscle Car era of the 60s and 70s, including South African GTs, the Anniversary GTs of the 90s, the B-series GT and GT-P & the current FG GT range.
Although the Club is based in Melbourne, Victoria, they represent and welcome GT Falcon enthusiasts worldwide.
Unfortunately the weather gods didn’t cooperate with the Club for their first nationals at Caribbean Gardens, with cold and windy weather accompanied by showers and rain at times. Car numbers on display were lower than anticipated.
Model wise the XAs and XBs had the numbers but there were many great examples of other model GTs, including a very nice gold XR and an EL GT.
