The FE FC Holden Car Club of Victoria celebrated the Club’s 25th anniversary with a Club get together and BBQ at Caribbean Gardens in Scoresby on Sunday 26th August 2012.
I was at the venue checking out the Monaros when a very nice FC sedan arrived and I thought it was going to join in with the Monaros, but lo and behold a whole bunch of FCs and FEs turned up all of a sudden and for a while there they outnumbered the Monaros.
Unfortunately the area set aside for the two Clubs was barely big enough, and this, combined with wet grass areas, created access difficulties for some cars.
The quality of the cars on display was outstanding; especially when you consider that they are all over 50 years old. Several had a pleasant “well worn” appearance but were still beautifully presented; whereas others were probably in better condition than when they originally left the Holden factory.
The “FCVSIX” number plate on a brilliant orange ute suggested that a look under the bonnet would probably not reveal a 50 year old straight six engine.
The glorious exhaust rumble from the orange and white FC sedan hinted at something a little different as well – it turns out that this car has been heavily modified with a full chassis, tubbed rear wheels, Supra bucket seats, and a 350 ci V8 (and more).
Overall, there were about 20 FE and FC classic Holdens in attendance, and the BBQ smelled great.
