MSCA 2014 Round 7 at Phillip Island

MSCA 2014 Round 7 was conducted at the Phillip Island Grand Prix circuit on Saturday 13th September 2014. The event was fully subscribed with good numbers of entrants in the Regularity, Marque Sports Cars and general Super Sprint competitions. As usual, there was a healthy mix of classic and more modern competitors.

Classic Car Photography has been away interstate for several months so it was great to be back “home” in familiar surroundings and in the company of friends and motorsport enthusiasts at this MSCA event.

This particular MSCA round featured the MG Car Club and MGs certainly dominated the up to 1999 cc classic category events. A number of more modern MGs also took part. Furthermore, volunteers from the MG Car Club provided much needed assistance in check in, scrutineering and all those behind the scenes tasks that are sometimes taken for granted. Thank you MG Car Club!

Of course it wasn’t all MGs and the range of cars competing in the MSCA  events never ceases to amaze!

This was the first event that MSCA had offered half price entry for Under 18 competitors with appropriate CAMS credentials, and it was quite a successful experiment. MSCA is keen to attract younger competitors and this is one way of attempting to do this.

Overall MSCA 2014 Round 7 was a tremendously successful event. A small number of cars did go off the track and it is never pleasant to see the red flag. Some rounds were restarted. The most serious incident involved a Lotus Elise at turn 11 and resulted in some damage to the rear of the car. Fortunately the driver is OK.

Preliminary results are available from the Natsoft website and official results should be posted to the MSCA website shortly.

We got a bit carried away with the number of photos we ended up taking, so we have uploaded over 170 images to our MSCA 2014 Round 7 Image Gallery for this event. This means that there should be at least photo of every competitor – apologies to anyone we missed.

Click Here to visit our Motorsport Image Gallery for more images from MSCA 2014 Round 7.  All images are available for purchase as high quality photographic prints or as digital download. Prices start at $10 for a digital download and from $15 for an 8” x 12” print (plus postage).

The remaining MSCA rounds for 2014 will be at Sandown and Winton in October and November respectively. Both with incorporate the highly successful and popular “Come & Try” rounds although at the time of writing the October “Come & Try” places have all been fully booked.
