MSCA Vic 2013 – Round 3 – Sandown

The Marque Sports Car Association Victoria (MSCAV) conducted Round 3 of its 2013 Super Sprint and Regularity season at Sandown International Raceway on Sunday 10th March 2013.

Weather wise the morning started out cloudy which moderated the heat somewhat, although once the clouds dispersed temperatures soared into the mid-thirties.  I’m not sure who was worse off – me in jeans, shirt and fluoro vest exposed in the sunlight taking photos or drivers in their race-suits in the confined spaces of race cars.

Sunday was also the last day of the Phillip Island Classic, which attracted a number of regular MSCAV competitors, as well as some supporters and spectators.  Never-the-less, the MSCA Sandown event attracted some 85 competitors and a slightly different bunch that usual.

Nissan-Datsun numbers were down, but there was a very competitive bunch of Ford Escorts plus a very nice gold Ford Anglia and a couple of Ford Lasers.

There were also a few more Jags than we usually see at an MSCAV event.

Peter Clarke showed off his new Bug-Eye Sprite and impressed with fastest lap in his class on his first day out.

Rodger Allgood, Clarke’s main rival in 2012, again did very well in his rotary powered Bolwell.

Perhaps it was the hot weather but the recovery vehicle got a bit of a workout, at least early in the day.

Preliminary results for MSCA Sandown have been posted at Natsoft and final results should be posted on the MSCAV website shortly.
